To optimize energy use long-term and thus to ideally save energy, certain adjustments were made at Brillux Industrial Coatings. The manufacturing plant is now certified in accordance with the energy saving norm DIN EN ISO 50.001. An ongoing process that ensures that the energy is forwarded to certain specific systems - whenever possible without stray – was created in accordance with strict requirements; in regular intervals certified inspectors control whether the predefined targets could actually be achieved within the specified time frame.
“We were optimistic from the start of our energy management project because of how well we had done in the past and what our numerous meters had shown”, says Dipl.-Ing. Rolf Heming, Plant Manager at Brillux Industrial Coatings in Unna, excitedly. “And in spite of this, we found sources among our principle energy consumers that we could supply with energy more efficiently and thus operate them with less energy long-term. We have already taken the first steps.”
For example, there were savings potentials for the exhaust air systems of the wet coatings mixer that we solved by installing motors with more advanced technology. With the new pipeline system, the refrigeration and transport was able to be designed in a more energy-saving manner as the energy can be used in a more targeted manner.
