We live with our environment and we live from our environment. It is up to us to protect it. We at Brillux Industrial Coatings pursue this assignment with an uncompromising commitment. For us a product is only perfect once it meets the high demands of our customers, while also fitting into the spirit of the times with its environmental characteristics.
Taking responsibility for the environment means more to us than just offering you and your customers environmentally-friendly coatings, but rather that the solutions are sustainable, too. Solutions that offer added value, while protecting the environment, for example by lowering energy costs or simply having a very long lifespan.
These three acronyms symbolize the key environment-relevant challenges for the coatings industry. And as your partner, of course we accept the challenge:
Approval of chemical components
To protect the environment, the REACH regulation (REACH = Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals) has controlled registration, evaluation and authorization of chemicals since June 2007.
Accordingly, chemicals are registered by the respective manufacturer or importer. For Brillux as a user of chemicals, we generally do not need to register them under the regulation. In close cooperation with our suppliers, we only procure already registered chemicals.
As further processors of our industrial coatings, we are thus on the safe side in terms of compliance with the REACH regulation.
Minimization of VOC emissions
The European VOC regulation prescribes that the emission of volatile organic solvents (volatile organic compounds = VOC) into the atmosphere should be reduced across Europe.
German Federal Immission Control Act (Bundes-Immisionsschutzgesetz, BImSchG)
With implementation of the 31st BImSchG, the VOC regulation was incorporated into German legislation. The emission limits can be complied with by either using suitable exhaust air cleaning systems or by following reduction plans.
Binding reduction plans already needed to be submitted to the respective authorities by the year 2004. If this date was missed, the prescribed limits needed to be complied with by November 2007.
For metallic and plastic coatings, the following values applied:
Solvent consumption per year | Maximum permitted solvent share |
---|---|
5–15 tons | 37.5% |
More than 15 tons | 27.3% |
Brillux offers various alternatives to the traditional solvent-based coatings in order to comply with the strict rules of the VOC regulation and thus to protect our climate. When you use our powder coatings, the solvent-reduced high solid paints or our water-dilutable hydro paints, you are always on the safe side.
Security by avoiding heavy metals
Many industrial coating providers are confronted with the so-called RoHS regulations (2011/65/EU regulation) which restrict the use of certain hazardous substances. It applies to the use of:
As Brillux completely avoids the use of these heavy metals, Brillux Industrial Coatings fulfill the requirements of the RoHS regulations in all regards:

We never cut corners when it comes to quality. Quality assurance is not theory for us, but an everyday routine. The certifications and approvals of our products and our quality management confirms this. Certified quality that you can rely on:
DIN EN ISO 9001:2015
Already back in 1995, Brillux Industrial Coatings had established a company-wide quality management system. Certification in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 is a given. This certificate is proof of the high expectations we have of ourselves.
Energy management certificate DIN ISO 50001:2018
Brillux Industrial Coatings has taken various targeted measures to save energy long-term. The manufacturing plant is now also certified in accordance with the energy saving norm DIN EN ISO 50.001.
GSB international
The quality label from GSB international (Gütegemeinschaft für die Stückbeschichtung von Bauteilen) stands for the highest coating quality in exterior areas. This is ensured through the simultaneous certification of manufacturers and users of coating systems.
Qualicoat
The Association for the Surface Finishing of Aluminium (VOA) has set the maintenance of coated surfaces as its aim. For this reason, the association assigns the Qualicoat quality certificate to coatings systems and processors that meet the high international quality standards and monitor them globally and neutrally.
